Not lazy, but broke! | 0
Hello, In response to the "get a job, go to school" comments I hear from some critics of the 99%: I have a Master's Degree and I work two part-time jobs. I would take on a third but it is difficult to fit into my already busy schedule. I have been unable to obtain a full-time, well-paying job because competition for jobs is FIERCE and I do not have as much experience as my competitors. I have over $100,000.00 in Student Loans to repay (currently in forbearance). My husband and I currently have about $35,000 combined in credit card and car loans. 100% of my income goes to paying these off, but since my husband works on commission, some months we have to use our credit cards for groceries and gas, sinking us into more debt. We already lost our home and we are living in my Mom's house. I am 40 years old and my husband is 55. That said, I consider myself LUCKY to have a job, a roof over our heads, and food to eat. Many are not so lucky. Please consider the following: 1. Lower interest rates on credit cards so people like us can actually pay them off, instead of being forced to file for bankruptcy. 2. Find a way to relieve Student Loan Debt, if not in total, then please do SOMETHING (this message may be more suitable to a government entity). 3. LISTEN to ALL of the protesters with a thoughtful ear and an honest heart. We are all tired of feeling like slaves to a broken system. We work hard at our jobs or we are trying to get a job, but we feel like hamsters on a wheel, going nowhere. FIX IT. Thank you for listening. P.S. Quit trashing the environment, please.
