Worked since I was 14. Paid my taxes, did without to save, have NO unsecured debt, gave to charity, did 23 years of innter city ministry as an Episcopal priest. Now in my 60s, thanks to you greedy, arrogant, emotionally stunted,drug-addicted boys, I lost fully half of my carefully invested money in the 08 crash that you engineered. And now you want another Republican president to help you dismantle the few financial restraints the government has imposed on you so you can continue to rape this country. May you one day suffer to learn some humility. May you one day feel the full force of the knowledge that, like idiots, we trusted and you betrayed us, your country and what little pieces of souls you might have left.

if you don't hire people here, no one can buy your products, or have a pension fund for you to manipulate... and you too will be dragged down into this spiral

i saw the people leaving their offices when Lehman collapsed, with their boxes of stuff from their desks... even good paying jobs can disappear in a flash

so when we say that we're all in this together, it eventually will mean you too

if there is no teachers union pension fund, then we won't need you to administer it

and there are support groups for your problem... it's called gamblers anonymous

You may think that this greedy obscenity of yours only affects "the little people", but once you have finished wrecking the economy and destroying this democracy, the"elite" will also have to fall. There will be no prey left for you to feed upon. The ruination of our country is on your heads.

    Dear Wall Street,

My husband and I have worked hard all our lives, holding more than one job at a time occationally. We have followed all the rules, sent our children through colle, saved our money and planned for our retirements by investing it in retirement accounts and 401 (k)s and Roth IRA's. We thought we had done all the right things and would be able to retire sometime between 2017 and 2020. By then, my husband would be 65-68 and I would be 62-65.

However, thanks to the decline in the markets, and your greedy foolishness, I don't know if we will ever be in a position to retire.

    Thank you, Wall Street,
    Sincerely,
    A teacher and a farmer

You've sold us out! Your Free Trade agreements with other countries just make it easier for you to send jobs overseas. GREED!
You hide your money overseas so you won't have to pay taxes on it. GREED!
Jobs at your big box stores and your companies that sale slave-made goods make us wince. We won't work there at minimum wage jobs so the only products we can afford are your slave-made goods. How much profit do you need? GREED!
We are professionals. We have degrees. We need jobs that pay a decent, living wage.
What kind of humans can see children starving in their own country and not give a damn? GREED!
What kind of people are you to see so many loosing everything just to get health care? GREED!

  • We support Occupy Wall Street | 0

It is time that corporations stop being given the legal rights of citizens; that democracy be restored and the wealthiest individuals stop being privileged with limited taxation; It is time that citizens of the world are universally guaranteed human rights; It is time that politicians, investors and corporations recognize the true costs of doing business in a way that is destructive to the earth's environment. If we acknowledge the true cost of capitolism's method of doing business, it would be considered a farce. Please take responsibility for your actions; use your "power" wisely with the recognition of the rights of citizens who do not have a voice in your boardroom and of the right of our children's children to find the planet habitable.

I am a young adult who works three jobs and still live below the poverty line. I have a B.A. and have been underemployed since the end of 2008, when I was laid off from my previous job. Because of the economy's crash due to Wall St. irresponsibility, my career has lost momentum and may never get it back again. The future looks bleak for people my age because of the consequences of bad decisions of these executives, and I think it's time for the rest of us - the 99% of us - to have our chance at economic progress and prosperity!

Corporations cut down the size of food portions and raise the prices. For example, tuna used to be 7 1/2 ounces, now they are 5 ounces...the price remains the same or higher.
Dannon reduced yogurt 25% and cut the price 10%. That's a 15% price increase. The same thing is happening all over. My food prices go up, my income does not. Social Security pay has remained stagnant for 3 years now, with no real end in sight. And whose money did the crooked federal government give to the banks so they can go on messing up people's lives for the almighty buck...the 99%, that's who. It's time to pay the piper for all of the dancing you corporate bigwigs have been doing. The OWS protests will not stop until you get the message and take positive action to help the American people.

I'm a filmmaker by trade and taxidriver by need. I spend a brief time in the mortgage boom and quickly became aware of the abuses perpetrated by brokers on the working poor looking to have a little pice of the Dream. I need it that job, but I could not cheat people out of there future; this broker was charging his costumers the highest rate he could regardless of the individual credit rating. My job was to go into my community and sale them this dream. I simply never return. This broker knowingly with the help of the lender destroyed dreams and in turn the Economy and all for a few dollars. Greed will doom us all, Fairness for all will saves us all.

I can count myself on the lucky few that have kept a stable & professional job for the past decade or so. Despite that I have had to tap on whatever fledgling patrimony I had to not default on financial obligations, now I am as far away from home ownership as I was 10 years ago and there is no reachable goal in sight. The one time I asked my bank (Chase) for help on reconstructing my patrimony I ended up talking up a wall every which way I turned. There is no bailout for the individuals, if I get late on a payment for my credit card I get penalized, if by mistake my checking gets underfunded I get penalized... please remind me just how can this be considered a fair arrangement.

I am a hardworking taxpaying worker who happens to work in the wall street area. I am struggling to help my highly skilled sister who has been unemployed for a number of months now. She has tried desperately to find a job so that she can pay her rent and support her 13 year old son.My other sister had been laid off from a law firm when the recession first hit.Now she is worried that she may lost her current job due to the economic climate. Something most be done so that hardworking people can earn and maintain a living.

To those selfish criminals who are causing pain and suffering for the 99%.

I have weathered the storm of problems because I am extremely conservative in my financial actions and because I am extremely intelligent and resourceful.

But I have people come to my farm and beg me to employ them for $20 cash for 8 hours work.

You probably make a tip of $200 when you have a dinner with your "friends". I imagine you lighting a cigar with a $20 bill to show your disdain for those you are evicting from their homes.

Mark my words. There is change in the wind and you will have your just deserts. I will only be happy when you are in jail and your possessions are all seized, in the same way you have thrown someone's grandma into the street.

I recently went to open a bank account with a local NJ bank for a farmers market I started in my neighborhood. I am not making any money from the market and was juts the person assigned to open a bank account. The bank had to do a background check on me before I could open the account and found that I owed Bank of America money. This was strange because I closed my account six years ago. I went to a local Bank of America chapter to get the situation cleared up and after many hours found out that although I closed my account Bank of America reopened my account to pay a recurring bill. Because I had no money in the account BOA charged me an overdraft fee of 30 for a 10 charge until I accrued 300 dollars in debt. Then Bank of America sold this debt to a debt collector. The debt collector doubled the amount I owed. I ended up paying the debt collector the money I owed just so I could open an account for the farmers market. I am not a rich person, so $300 was basically all of my savings at the time. In addition I originally closed my Bank of America account because of their policy of overdraft fees. They prey on the poorest people who are barely making ends meet and then charge them for not having enough money in the first place. Charging a $30 fee for a $10 overdraft charge is criminal. Opening an account after it has been closed without informing the customer is also criminal and creating obstacles for people who are trying to improve their communities by starting projects like farmers markets in unacceptable.

We need real banking reform. Until then I am boycotting these banks with thousands of other American's who are not going to take it anymore.

We are impressed with the good turnout at Occupy Wall Street, and although we have not been directly affected, we want to express our strong support of the people who are willing to demontrate on behalf of most Americans.

We hope that our federal government will think of the people, not only the banks, when help is needed. So many people are suffering without jobs, that our government must do something for them.

My last full time job ended at the beginning of January, 2008. I looked for work, but was unsuccessful. I used up my savings. I had to give up health insurance. My husband had multiple myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow/blood plasma. It's terminal. For much of 2008/09 I was unable to look for work, as I was his primary caregiver. He died on August 30, 2009.

After that, I went through a foreclosure. My credit was destroyed. I'm 55 years old. I still can't even get so much as an interview for the jobs I've applied for. I'm working part time as a caregiver to an elderly woman - a job that could end at any moment. Over the last 2 years I've been homeless three times. My income puts me well within the federal poverty guidelines. I used to be in the middle class.

At this point, I have to wonder how many years of poverty and homelessness I can endure. Will I be able to hang on until I'm old enough to qualify for Social Security? On dark days I wonder why I should bother.

My grievance with the bankers? You broke the US economy. You were bailed out by taxpayers, and all you've done is stick it to us ever since. None of you were held accountable. You couldn't wait to foreclose on a near worthless bit of land, and an utterly worthless house - which was once my husband's home.

Today's corporate banks have no investment in our communities, and no conscience. Meanwhile, the number of homeless continues to increase, especially the numbers of middle aged, formerly middle class homeless people. The fastest growing age group for suicide is people aged 40-65. I blame you.

Enter your story about life in the 99% here. i am disgusted calling companies about my account and find myself talking to someone in india who does not understand me and i certainly do not understand them, whether in accent or custom here in the united states, and i do not accomplish anything by the call. we need those jobs brought back home where when we call we speak to an american familiar with my and their english accent and customs. bring those jobs home our children need them and can certainly do better.

JP Morgan Chase bank illegally (yes, ILLEGALLY) repossessed my car and are still asking for money. What's sad is that I worked for Chase for a few summers as a college student.

Bank of America have added extra fees for just about everything. Now, if you don't have enough money in your account, Bank of America take even more money as a penalty for not having enough money.

HSBC have charged me $35.00 for being late on a $10.00 overdraft payment. That's 350% more than the original payment, and this is despite having a reason for being late: I'm too busy paying the other corporations extra money on top of a $10.00 payment. This is in addition to other egregious things that HSBC did.

Sallie Mae steals from me every month - at least, that's how it feels - for an education that hasn't helped me to live a better life, instead of being in debt. I was told that education was the key to success and the American dream. I did the "right" things: escaped a bad neighborhood, went to college, straight to graduate school afterwards, no credit cards until age 23, no out-of-wedlock children, no early marriage, no drinking or drugs, even attended church on a regular basis, etc.

I'm now in debt that likely won't be paid off for AT LEAST the next 30 years. That doesn't count the years that I've been paying before that. My profession is underpaid & thankless & often disdained. I joined the profession because, believe it or not :-/ I want(ed) to help people.

    I am the 99%.

I am just a lowly worker who, for the last 40 years, did the right thing. I worked, I saved for my future retirement and then for my daughter's college fund. Since your recklessness with MY investments, their values are now back to where I started. Thanks, folks! I will probably never be able to retire and all I can hope for is to die first. My daughter will be in debt for student loans until SHE retires. GOOD JOB!!

Personally, I do not know why you crooks were given bail-out money only to fill your pockets with it and continue on your merry way. I'd like to see you pay back the bail-out and thrown in jail for the rest of your lives.

Of course, you being the rich and powerful, that will never happen. Maybe you should all invest in pitchforks & torches.
