Unequal Distribution of Wealth | 0
To whom it may concern: Enough is enough. The time has come for the super rich to own up to their responsibilities and pay their fair share. Those who have engaged in criminal activity should be tried, just as any criminal is. Those who have behaved immorally and with no concern for their fellow men should be judged in the court of human opinion, as is currently happening with the growing "Occupy Wall Street" movement. You can't keep hiding behind the board room walls. The 99% is tired of getting the short end of the stick while the 1% lives in the lap of luxury. Hopefully, it won't take a full blown revolution for you to get the message. Evan Quimby 12572

Why No Consumer Protections for Student Loans? | 0
Why is it that banks can get bail-outs when they gamble recklessly with our money, but there are no consumer protections for student loans? How do you expect middle class Americans to function when they are saddled with massive amounts of debt that they can't get out from under? Why do you banksters have special rights to play with our money, and then get rescued when you screw up while we are cut loose with no jobs and no healthcare and saddled with massive debts forever? Do you know how much human misery and damage you have contributed to? Do you have any understanding at all of what reality is for most Americans? You have ruined this country with your greed. Never underestimate an unhappy public | 0
Never underestimate the power of an unhappy, disgruntled, and frustrated.public. I refer you to Hosni Mubarek, Moammar Qadafi, President Saleh, and the events of the ongoing Arab Spring. Oh, and let's not forget King Louis XVI of France. They built a guillotine for him. A fair and equitable life for those who want one should be an obtainable reality, not some distant, impossible dream. Cliff Long Annapolis, MD 21136

I am tired of bailing out multinationals with corporate welfare. The hypocrites decry welfare for the poor and yet suck billions out of main streets pockets. I oppose allowing CEO's to pocket billions of their companies dollars for decisions that could be made just as easily by a wino on skid row. The wino might actually make money instead of bankrupting the company. I am tired of the CEO's stealing money from account holders with criminal overdraft and fees. I think the CEO's should be in prison for their illegal activities or better yet, have all their wealth confiscated and tossed out on the streets with the millions of former home owners they tossed to the streets. They need to see real poverty and experience it before they ever make another boardroom decision. Paul Ordway Eugene, OR 97402-4667

Shame | 0
You should be ashamed of yourselves. You are the collective example of a double standard, and I will not shed one tear if you lose your fortunes, which have been made at the expense of those who were otherwise unable to prevent your predatory methods' effectiveness. Give back some, or lose it all, I could care less. Richard Grant Middlebury, CT 06762

Astronomically high interest rates on bank credit cards are really wounding the masses of people who have to use the cards to survive in this horrible economy. Greedy blood suckers! Linda Brown 11101
protesting greed and corruption in corporations and government | 0
Many things are radically wrong in this country. Lobbyists from powerful vested interest influence government and legislations. Lobbyists try to water down or eliminate laws that are not in their interests but are in the interests of humanity- the environment, health, economic, etc. The government in conjunction with corporations and the rich and powerful are making laws that benefit them. The banks are bailed out but are tight with their lending, foreclose on homes prematurely and unnecessarily. The milk industry wants to ban raw milk because it takes away from its market share. There is a movement to ban supplements or put them under the umbrella of the medical profession. Big Pharma is in bed with the FDA , There should be a single payer health insurance for everyone but the insurance lobby and whoever else won't let that happen. Our system as a whole is not working. The pharmaceutical industry, insurance, banking, wall street, the media with it spin and propaganda, large scale agriculture and oil with it's subsidies, the environment being polluted, people being dumbed down and the middle class being gutted, our medical system preventing alternative care/medicine. America has lost its way. I am non-violent but others are not. There is still time to take care of the people before things explode. There has probably been greed and corruption from the beginning, but when it becomes everpresent and to the max, it's too much for people to bear. To those in power, pull back, give more to the 99%, do the right thing and what has truly made this countr;y great. Wishing you to reconsider your priorities. John john alexander chico, CA 95926

fundamentally broken | 0
We are on to the fact your entire sector of the economy has become fundamentally predatory and destabilizing. Finance has morphed from a necessary enabler of economic activity into a berserk casino, where the biggest gamblers, you, have commandeered the house to guaranty their bets. We need to save not just ourselves, but you; pretty soon, you'll have no one left to steal from. Rob Michaels 60625
Do you have children or grandchildren? | 0
Dear 1%, We all share the same natural resources, we all share the same air and water. We all share the same land space and parks. Our children and grand children will share them with yours. I was just wondering what status you foresee these national and global treasures and necessities left in? In a mere 20 years, what do you picture for your children and their children? Take a look at the out of control cancer rate and see if you can make a link between it's numbers and our EPA cutbacks and exploitation of the environment before you give me your answer. Pay fair wages and help the environment | 0
American society has benefited you and made you and your company rich. Instead of dodging taxes as well as environmental and social responsibility, the time has come to make a change. Stop exporting jobs to China. Pay American workers a fair wage. Stop polluting our planet. Invest in renewable energy resources. If you can make these changes, you can have a LOT of support instead of a lot of rage. Liz White Seattle, WA 98133

we need health care we need education we need equality we need jobs we need roads we need homes we need social services these are basics that everyone in this country needs. it makes no sense to take these basic needs away from 99% of the country in order to line the pockets and bank accounts of the top 1%. It will destroy this country and has repercussions all over the world. we need to wake up and change this system. there is no choice. it is basic Nikesha Breeze SANTA FE, NM 87505

We Need to Help Our Children Learn | 0
Hello, I'm a social work graduate student in Brooklyn, NY. This year I'm working in an inner-city high school helping students graduate and succeed in life. The public school system has been crumbling since cuts are being made at all levels. Teachers are stretched to the max and are unable to give students the attention they need. All I want is for children to get a good education and have strong, healthy minds. I think this is something we can all agree upon. But they need to be supported through tax dollars. The 99% demands good public education and an investment in our children. Please be aware of the consequences of social inequality. We need these investments. One way or another, we are entering a time where the needs and dreams of our young people will become the priority and corporate welfare will diminish. Thank you! Yours, Michael Paone Michael 11216

Public Need not Corporate Greed | 0
The corporations and the super rich have done very well over the past 30 years while everyone else has suffered. We are not against capitalism and people getting rich. We just don't want it to be at the expense of everyone else. You all did fine under the 90% tax rate of Eisenhower, the 50% tax rate under Reagan and the 37% tax rate under Clinton. Stop putting your political dollars to work against tax hikes, pay the taxes you avoided by going abroad without asking for a tax holiday, stop closing US plants and call centers and firing American workers. As a corporation, be fair to all your stakeholders which include your workers and the communities where you operate. Lauren Steiner Beverly Hills, CA 90210

Corporate profits are said to have reached their highest level as a share of the economy since 1950, while worker pay as a share of the economy is reportedly at its lowest point since the mid-1950s. While the top 5% of US population reportedly has 84% of the wealth of our country, the bottom 40% are said to survive on 0.3% of the wealth. We now appear to match China in our level of inequality. The outrageous resistance to paying your fair share has resulted in impoverishing our workers, families, our nation, while billionaires pay little and corporations making huge profits get tax refunds. It's time for a change. Stop the Bush-era tax cuts, stop the oil, other subsidies. Use the money to cover the jobs program. patrice 01039
