Shame on you!!! You are exposed!!!! | 0
Shame on you!!!! the divisive tactic of the self proclaimed elites is finally be exposed. And with this exposure the masses are finally coming together, armed with the consciousness that we have all been played by the same few greedy in this country and around the world who continue to hoard the natural resources of our planet, pollute our earth, create disparities amoung peaceful peoples, take without exacting a full and fair market payment, displace populations for the sake of stealing natural resources and releasing your forces of military, espionage and police might on the vunerable and least expecting . Shame on you !!!! you are exposed and your days of anarchy are numbered. Lazelle Williams 10017
Top 1% Know Only Greed | 0
My family has suffered terribly from those at the top of the income ladder. My husband died from a massive heart attack at a young age after struggling from years of looking for work. Because he was so intelligent he was able to provide some income for the two of us but not adequately. We had no health coverage which is usual in this country. Too bad we can't have medical care like other industrialized nations. My children are worried that their jobs may disappear as outsiders, that don't require benefits, may take their positions. Greedy corporations are fast turning this country into a third-world country. Sara Genthner Easthampton, MA 01027-1096

What's happening to our country right now is something you did. You not only allowed it, you caused it; and, once you started it going, you refused to do anything to stop it. You apparently did this because what you did has not touched you. But that's going to change. It will touch you. And you will feel it. Because two of my four children are still not working, two full years after you created an economy which cannot afford to hire them, despite excellent credentials, positive references, and solid work records over up to twenty years. One of the four is hanging on, making less than half of what he was. Only one is doing well, and he had to move across the continent to do it, leaving what he had made in a dozen years to do it. And I hold you responsible for this. James Livingston Skandia, MI 49885

The tyranny of the rich and powerful is not working well for America. those with the riches and the power have had every opportunity to conduct themselves in a noble and responsible fashion , and they have made a mess of things. Multitudes of people are suffering and hopeless. Our environment is being ravished. Workers are not making a living wage, and are continually asked by their superiors to sacrifice more. Our money goes to the rich, who hoard it without regard for those whose backs have carried the burdens. We spend billions on wars, which destroy other countries, and then we pay to rebuild them. Meanwhile, our people suffer. Our rich get richer. Our government is dysfunctional, due to bought politicians. Even if they still have a conscience, they do not exercise it, because they are bought and paid for by those with the money. Our media is feeding the public sensational trials and meaningless trivia every day, because it is also bought and paid for by the richest 1%. Many people have no idea what s going on, because of the irresponsibility of this corrupt system. Many are fed lies continually by FOX propaganda News, owned by another corrupt rich man. The rich and powerful have not performed their responsibilities. To whom much is given, much is expected. The bill is now due. The 99% are expecting their justice to be remitted now. We are waiting, we are watching, we are not going away, True democracy is knocking at the door, and we want what is ours. We occupy America, we are legion. Expect us. Gina Strandlien 15202

We Americans are fed up with the economic distortions that are literally ruining the lives of so many hard working people in this country. It is time for Wall Street to behave like moral human beings - pay your share of taxes. We are fed up with the big corporations taking over our democratic processes. We are fed up with corporations bleeding the every day Americans. We are fed up with them buying the government. The "Citizens United" decision is appalling. Ordinary citizens know that this should be illegal, and so do you. It is time for you all to set aside your greed for a minute and look at what is happening. It is time for you to realize that your practices are immoral at best. Time to look at your own conscience. I don't know how you can live with yourselves knowing that your sense of being all powerful at the detriment of all others is ungodly. Greta Gundersen Belchertown, MA 01007

I am a hardworking, college educated American woman. I have no sense of entitlement, but I am well aware that I cannot get ahead due to the distribution of wealth and political power in this country. Banksters in Charge | 0
My story: First of all, thank you for this forum to express my discontent with Wall Street-World Bank corporate culture that has taken over not only the United States, but the global community. We have been bullied and cajoled by our so-called 1% benefactors and politicians world wide, as evidenced by the global effect of all economies and the uprising of the working class (99%). I began my activism with the Move Your Money Project a couple of years ago, at their web presence inception. My particular situation began with the break down of the banking system as banks began to aggregate into larger entities. I was very content with my National Teacher’s Association money market account, which I had opened in the late 1980’s. I cannot remember exactly which event happened first, but I found myself with Band of America, as through a merger MBNA had been acquired. Most recently, and what prompted me to dump all big bank accounts, was the failure of banks to serve the 99%. Rather, banks had amassed themselves into large ponzi schemes to extract every last dollar from the average consumer and user of bank services. I watched as bank savings rates bottomed out, bank services and charges sky- rocketed and credit card business was on a roll. To digress for a moment: For a short time, I was employed by my local Dean Witter office. Here is where I learned a sorry lesson about how people gamble with their own and other’s money. I did learn a lesson. Do not trust stock brokers with your hard earned money, because they are totally ruthless and with out moral consciousness about anyone’s money except their brokerage fees that they accumulate when “advising” you to sell or buy. It’s all about turnover for these money hungry greedy wall street and bank types that prompted me to sell all stock and to invest my money in my teacher earned TSA’s. “Discount Brokers” were the rage at the time, so at least I was able to dump the idea that my Dean Witter broker was the only adviser. I fortunately was able to get rid of the stock and continue to save my money in TSA’s through my employment as a teacher. Beyond my story, my daughter is being harassed by another big bank which kept raising rates on the unpaid balance, even though she was paying regularly and on time. She notified this bank that she would not pay the charges. To date she has accumulated almost 6, 000 in charges in a dispute that the bank will not acknowledge, even though correspondence and notification has been sent. THIS IS WHAT TOO BIG TO FAIL BANKS DO!! My current state of affairs: I bank at a local credit union and have other savings in a local commercial bank. I would say that I have no benefits other than I can walk into both those bank’s lobbies and deal with the bank officials face to face. Interest is nil, so what savings I have accrued for my retirement is almost worthless; Just a paper statement, with little buying power. We Americans have been duped. And I blame the politicians and Washington, World banking system, the Koch brothers who are unraveling the fabric of our country while accumulating personal wealth for themselves and the corporations they perpetuate for their elitist goals. My march is to denounce the current immoral monetary and political system that only serves the few, with the message that my “virtual” boots are on the ground and marching with a critical mass of human beings who have been duped, used, and enslaved by the money changers and politicians who serve them. More positively I send my thoughts and prayers to those courageous occupiers that : WE, TOO SHALL OVERCOME !!!. Helen Babcock Ventura, CA, CA 93001
End the Plutocracy | 0
The era of the super rich ruling the world will eventually end one way or another. It may end in our lifetimes or it may end a generation or so from now. Either way, it won't last very far into the future. Globalization has allowed the mere rich to become the super rich. I don't hold wealth against anyone... if it is earned honestly and fairly... and if it isn't gained by harming others. So, that is where the problem comes in. It's obvious to anyone with minimal intelligence that we don't have a free market. It's equally obvious that many are being harmed. Rationalizing all of this away won't make it go away nor will it make the 99% go away. Research proves that the poor have more empathy than the rich. In practical terms, this means the 99% understands the 1% better than the other way around. To be poor, one has to understand those in power. But to be in power means to not have to understand anyone else. As a part of the super rich, you are used to people serving you and telling you what you want to hear. Your so used to it you probably don't even notice it and you might even deny it. Your ignorance, however, won't save you. The same globalization that has made you rich is also the same globalization that is creating a worldwide movement of the poor and working class. Just think of the Populist Era in the US and magnify that all the billions of people around the world that your lifestyle and your business practices impact. This can all end in a number of ways, but don't you doubt for a moment it will end. You have a choice. You can work with the 99% to help create a better future for everyone or you can fight against the 99% until the bitter end. Your choice will determine whether this change will be easy or not. Most people don't want violence. I know I don't. I hate violence. I'm a pacifist, in fact. Why do the super rich like you seem determined to force the 99% into such desperation that violence will become almost inevitable? As a wise person said: When people lose everything, they lose it. I would take heed of those wise words. That is my advice. Benjamin Steele Iowa City, IA 52245

Dear 1%, It's hard to know how to phrase a letter pleading with those who have taken too much to share more. I don't particularly want or need a bigger slice of your wealth for myself. But if you were taxed fairly and an ever so slightly larger proportion of your wealth were spread across federal and local programs and initiatives to improve people's lives - really really basic stuff, which is of course not so basic here in the US, like free health care and better schools - then life would be better, dare I say it, even for you people of the 1%. Imagine it - and ask yourself why it scares you so much! Is it really just greed? Or something else? What do you think is so bad that would happen if the world was more socially and economically equal? I'd be genuinely interested to know what you're resisting so much, as I think it's a hang-up larger than the fear of losing a few million (or billion) that you'd still be extremely rich without. It's also worth pointing out that this isn't even asking for very much - at this point, we'd be ecstatic with the kind of tax rules for the wealthiest that were current under Reagan! So while I know it feels like you know the "real" world of economics and these protesters are just a bunch of hippie types who don't live in the "real" world - well it's time to wake up from that delusion. I can't imagine any further remove from the real world than the boardroom of Newscorp or JP Morgan Chase or [insert your current corporate affiliation here]. Which is why it's so scary that at times you dictate so much of what happens out here, in the - let's face it - frighteningly real world. But if you take steps now to make the real world less scary, then maybe it some point it won't feel so terrible to join us out here in it. It could be a good place. Even great. Kat Linden 10025
Decaying Society: The Rich get richer, and the poor get poorer | 0
We are such a clever species. We are so clever in fact that we are the only species that destroys the environment that supports us! And you who are in the cockpit are leading us down the road to ruin. It's unconscionable, but greed and power have never served the greater collective which we call society. We are now dancing on the precipice, and the piper must be paid. Trillion dollar wars, but not enough for healthcare! I have never quite understood why men and women who have reached billionaire status would continue to make decisions that make the other 99% do with less. History is clear on that vision. Open your hearts and think of not only the rest of the planet, but what type of world you will be leaving your lineage with decisions that have lost all common sense. I had absolutely no idea that you felt so lonely. I want to assure you that I've thought about you frequently and often. That's happened every time I've signed a petition complaining about various forms of environmental degradation, economic plundering and ruin, the fall of wages, the export of jobs or the obscene bonuses you given yourselves at everyone else's expense. Oh yes, I've thought of you frequently, and I'm confident that many others have as well. Stephen J. Mazurek Lewiston, NY 14092
Inquality, Jobs, Long-term Economic Growth, and Social Discontent: | 0
To the "(99%"). wherever you are: In my opinion, the growing inequality in income and wealth is mainly responsible for the failure of our economy to produce enough jobs for our population in the short and long term. This job deficit inhibits lower- and middle-income consumers from expressing a healthy demand for goods and services. Two bad consequences flow from this deficit - stunted long-term economic growth and, ultimately, social discontent. You, of all people, should be concerned about these bad consequences, because you have the largest per capita material investment in healthy economic growth and long-term social peace. Your interest should also extend beyond the material realm to what sort of nation and world you will leave to your children and grandchildren. See the warnings now - a stubborn recession that will burden the economic opportunities of millions of our young people in the future and organized peaceful street protests that could presage more ominous and violent demonstrations in the future. Please take action now to advocate for private and governmental policies that will lessen economic inequality and increase the number of jobs in the present. These policies should include carefully designed government spending and increased taxation in the short term followed by moderation of government spending in the long term. Furthermore, you should advocate for fair labor standards at home and abroad and support government regulations that first protect the public and only then impose as light a burden as possible on privae business. However, do not attempt through inaction or action to preserve your privileges by exploiting foreign workers and lax environmental and labor standards abroad, while cultivating a growing base of consumers in India and China at the expense of American economic growth. Be assured that such policies as these will only hasten the arrival of violent social discontent both at home and abroad, which will damage the prospects of all people for economic growth and social peace.
