  • pay your fair share of taxes | 0

It is time that you stop hoarding your billions. Pay your taxes! Pay a percentage for each stock exchange. Stop buying the politicians. In how many mansions can you live at a time? How many steaks can you eat?
Stop being greedy and corrupt. We are the 99% and we are not silent anymore. Remember, you have accumulated and stolen all the money, but we are more people!

  • Demented few | 0

      Dear Demented few,

A friend of mine who has two masters degrees worked for a private university and after three years lost his job. My friend came down with kidney stones , not having health insurance , I had to drive my friend to the nearest clinic. They told her "we don't care for those problems here" You will have to go to the other clinic. Could you imagine if my friend was in more pain then she could handle, or better yet, was bleeding profusely? We finally decided to go to the ER. We were in there for a full day. The nurse wanted to fill her with a serious pain killer and that costs bucks. We said no. The nurse then made her ingest some barium liquid. We did not understand that it was for a CATscan. Why is health insurance affordable for a particular few? I am from a educated family as well as my friend. We are people and have a right to live life without worrying about health insurance. We should look out for one another.

Banks and consumers share in an agreement: you keep our money safe, and in exchange, we grant you temporary access to our money so that you can use it to invest, presumably wisely, and make a profit. But lately- and I'm talking about the bailout here- we don't feel you're holding up your end of the bargain, and it adds insult to injury when the people that profit most from our money aren't even paying taxes at the same rate as us mere mortals. The bailout money came from our pockets. It's our money that you're using to make your profits. So I have to ask myself the following question: What does the average American get out of this deal other than you holding our money hostage? We think it's time for you to repay your debts.

Today, Wall Street is booming. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo executives are earning as much as they did before the financial crisis. In 2010, the CEOs of these three banks made $52 million dollars combined.

Yet on Main Street, family incomes are tanking, job creation has stalled, and 42 million people are living in poverty -- more than at any time in the last 50 years.

We have done our part, now it’s time for Wall Street to do more – through a tiny sales tax on each Wall Street trade. It's called a financial transaction tax (FTT).

Right now Congress is considering huge cuts to Medicare and Social Security, as well as other important programs in health, education and housing.

Enough is enough! We know where the money is. It’s time for Wall Street to start Paying US Back!

My 26 year old step-son lost his heating and air job a few months ago due to the company going bankrupt. He hustled and was lucky enough to find work a few weeks ago. Now, Bank of America is going to charge him $5.00 a month to use his own money...money that he is struggling to earn so he can pay bills, buy gas and enough food to keep his head above water. Not fair!!!

  • So what about trying something different? | 0

Dear Sirs and Madams (I do hope there's some madams there too)

What about giving something else a try. We've been doing this stuff you do for quite a while, it's had its moments, but in the end, I reckon we can agree that some parts are up for improvement. This is not just a complaint. Heck, I could have been where you are instead of you, but I'm not. Let's see it like more of a 'you've got the means, let's make it happen' kind of thing. With let's make it happen, I mean let's take on all the problems that our current way of living generates: let's go for an economy at the service of people. Let's not live in a way that just can not last, because of the fact that some resources happen to be limited. Let's just have a grand old time, and build something we can be proud of. Something that allows all kinds of people, from all over the world, to live a fine life, something that allows non-human beings to have a fine life as well (in case you don't care about those fellows, we do need them for our own lives). Let's just move on, and make a bright future happen. I'd be pretty glad if you did that, and I'd be happy to help out where I can.

Guys, you're not alone. You can make something happen.

    Hugs,

What did you ever really do to deserve the wealth you enjoy? However productive you are, that cannot account for your holding such a disproportionate share of the wealth. You know in your heart, that wealth has probably come to you through a rigged system that is corrupt and unconscionably robbing the environment and the poor, for your benefit. We, the people, will no longer tolerate such a system. Wake up to the fact that we are all one and in this mess together. Do your fair share to put balance back into it.
    Thanks for listening.

My mother, who turned 90 in 2008, saw her private pension, earned from 40 years of teaching at a university, lose half its value. Thank God George W Bush failed in his bid to privatize Social Security or she'd have landed on the street after you people gambled and stole half of that. Vicram Bandit is claiming he understands why we are angry; I'd suggest you wake up too - it's preferable to know why you and your kids are being ripped limb from limb instead of dying in ignorant terror. I wish I believed in heaven and hell; if they are real, tell the devil I said hi.

I am about to loose my home and I am in a terrible finical bind due to cooperate greed. I lost my job for almost 2 years. To save my home I deplete all my savings and went back to school.

Yes! I found a job paying me half of what I was making. In addition I am now paying 20% of my health insurance that does not provide coverage for my daughter. I have a very high co-payment. I have no optical or dental coverage.

I am still struggling to pay my bills and keep my house. That's all I have left after working over 25 years in this country.

What I want is a good paying job with benefit for myself and all Americans. A job that offers affordable health insurance. A return of the middle class. My daughter is graduating college next year I want her to share in the American dream by finding a job as a reward for her dedication to her studies.

I don't want handout. I will work for mine if I am provided a fare wage for my service.

    JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.

Thanks for letting my voice be heard.

The circle has come back to the beginning of the 20th Century. Those with the wealth are fighting to keep those without money from surviving.

Give up your hold on our economy and the media. Let the common folk have a bit of the wealth. People are jobless, homeless and without medical care. Please help them. To those who much has been given is the responsibility to share with those less fortunate.

How would any of YOU feel if I lived like royalty while your life savings and future was depleted, and yet that wasn't enough? What if I kept griping for more bailouts claiming I was too big to fail while YOU lost YOUR home? What if the once beautiful area where YOU live has been destroyed because I chopped down all the trees in your once pristine forests, ruined a protected federal wildlife preserve all for selfish oil interests, THEN insisted that your air and water were to be contaminated, too, because China "needs coal"??
I guarantee you WOULDN'T like it.

  • It's Time For You to Thank The 99% of This Country | 0

When you and I were young, we took many things in this world for granted, such as the safe roads and sidewalks we walked on every day to a nice public school full of our loving teachers and friends or the fact that we knew that we were safe in our beds at night thanks to nice policemen and policewomen patrolling the streets outdoors. But why did we have these things? Simply because of the true heroes in this world - the public servants who worked hard for our future out there.

The world has changed quite a bit from that time. So many schools in this world are no longer the nice places that they used to be. So many roads in this world are full of potholes and nearing their end of life. So many teachers and law enforcement officers are being laid off or furloughed. Why? Simply because we don't have the money anymore to pay for them. And this problem is ever more important in America, with a $14 trillion debt nearing $15 trillion quite soon due to the increase of almost $4 billion a day!

I bet, like myself, you're quite grateful for all those people who guided and protected us along our paths to success. So then let me ask you a question. Why aren't you doing your part to provide for the next generation? If our parents and the prior generation provided for us, then why shouldn't we provide for the next?

For example, why should you deserve a lower tax rate than all the rest of us? Yes, you contributed quite a bit to society, and we all agree, leading your large bank or oil company. But by refusing to pay your fair share, you're contributing quite detrimentally to the U.S. deficit as a whole by a large amount. Already students in our public schools, who depend so much on them along with their parents to provide them a quality education like they provided us many, many years ago, are being forced into huge class sizes taught most likely by teachers of high seniority. Now I'm not saying the teachers of high seniority can't teach or that they're not good teachers at all, but that seniority-based layoffs aren't the best for the next generation simply because newer, more qualified teachers can't provide their better methods of teaching to a classroom. The achievment gap can be rid of when it comes to education when an at-risk child receive a good teacher for just three years end-to-end. So why are you contributing, to put it bluntly, to the downfall of the next generation and stripping them of their well-deserve opportunites for success?

In the same way, why are you holding back clean energy and new legislation to protect the environment? Many, many years ago, we were able to wake up and see clear, blue skies full of sunshine. Well, the reality now is that there are much lesser days of clear, blue skies now all over the world due to so much pollution and harm being done to the environment. Even more, kids are dying every single day here in America due to ashtma and allergy attacks caused by a lack of fresh, clean air in their surroundings. To put it bluntly once again, why does the next generation have to suffer so much more than we did? Do we want them to look back and appreciate us for what we did or cuss us out for what we didn't do?

And one last thing: stop trying to get rid of opportunties for job creation, something that America needs without a doubt and needs fast. Like seriously fast. Just in the State of California, where I'm from, they paid more than $10 billion in Unemployement Insurance in the fiscal 2010 year compared to just $2 billion ten years ago in the fiscal year 2000. Why can't you do some good and lobby for the passage of the American Jobs Act, creating billions of new jobs and saving our much-needed schools, roads, national parks, important governmental services and benefits, and much, much more that can simply be completely paid for through a simple tax increase for you. Once again, let me ask you, do you think it's fair for a secretary or even a bus driver to probably pay more taxes than you do? I sure don't, and I bet if you think about it from just an ethical point of view, you sure wouldn't either.

So, please, hear me out and stop slowing down progress in this country and help provide for the next generation like the prior generation and our parents did for ourselves. The 99% needs you to do your part for not just America, but the world in general. We took our turn in doing our part, and now it's yours.

Thank you very much for listening, and I appreciate your time and consideration in advance.

  • I Understand. | 0

I don't think that you have a frame of reference for what is happening to people right now. Everything since your upbringing has told you that you are entitled to these vast fortunes that you have created for yourself. Created for yourself through any and all means necessary which is where you have gone wrong. I don't know if you have the ability to take on a different point of view, but if you could think of those people who have not had the same opportunities and securities as you have and realize that this game that you're playing is effecting people in horrible ways then I think that you would behave differently.

I know that you follow the rules and regulations for the most part but you have teams and teams of people on your side that sway or even write the rules in the first place which gives you the advantage. I think the most important thing for you to realize is that these rules and regulations aren't enough. If you had a team of people instead to think about what your actions would be on a community (or as in this case, the entire world) then perhaps your self-regulation would be sufficient. Because it is now painfully obvious that these laws will never be enough.

You dream big and differently than most people which is a great thing. But it does not give you the right to use people and do things the way that you have.

If you have taken the time to read this, I sincerely thank you as I know how busy you consider yourself to be. If nothing else, please remember this in your dealings: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
