A single mother with a minimum wage job was struggling to help her daughter complete college. This mother carefully balanced her checkbook and paid attention to her finances. She wrote a $30 check knowing it would be close, but also knowing that there was enough in the account to pay.

However --- due to processing the checks largest to smallest, the check did not clear. Furthermore, the bank sent it through several more times, each time charging an overdraft fee, and the recipient of the failed check charged the woman for their fees !!!! That $30 check ended up costing that single mother well over $100.

    Shame!

When the economy collapsed, so did my parents' retirement savings. Both in their eighties, they saw their ability to sustain themselves largely wiped away through no fault of their own. They never over extended themselves, never took foolish financial risks, never took on unsustainable debt, nor lived beyond their means. They simply made the mistake of being in their eighties, living frugally, and expecting those with whom they had invested their income to behave with a modicum of integrity and responsibility. Instead, Wall Street banks have made billions of dollars by bankrupting them. What in this is not a crime?

    Dear Coporate Gangster,

How dare you interrupt our lives while you continue to gloat in the vast riches of the world?
How dare you take our homes and resell them right back to the ordinary guy?
How dare you demand teachers to educate future college graduate and workers, when you send all the jobs ashore and provide schools with no resources?
How dare you take our pensions, our retirement after you gave them to us?
      How dare you........

I am getting married to a woman who got let go twice in the past 6 months. My mother has no job and no benefits. You screwed up this economy. Make those living a lavish life give a little. At least we can all live a little bit comfortably.

I have seen the same environmental devastation in different countries around the world, caused by the same greed, and the same eternal thirst to expand profits.

    People matter more than things.

We need to change out ideology about the world, and care for each other as human beings.

    Money cannot be eaten.

There is enough wealth in the world so everyone can be fed. Our generation will fight against corruption and corporate control of governments so that future generations of humans can actually survive on Earth.

  • Existing until I die | 0

While you try to decide whether to by a BMW or Mercedes, I'm wondering if I can make it until I die without becoming homeless.
You knew that the bottom was going to fall out, you protected yourself, while I trusted my investment broker to take care and protect the life insurance money my husband left me so I would be okay. I have no family to protect me.
I'm 100% disabled, lost all the money my husband left me and now I will suffer and worry if I'll have enough money each month for food, no trips for me, no enjoying the golden years and you have no conscience about what crooks you are.
How would you like it if someone treated your loved ones the way you've been allowed to treat so many of us, just because you're greedy?

  • Where will you live? | 0

We only have one world and we share it. Many corporations are actively involved in destroying the environment we all live in for the sake of huge profits and the other corporations who network with them simply look the other way while you all share the wealth. When the earth is no longer able to support the destructive civilization we now have, where will you live? Where and with whom will you do business? Without the 99% below you to buy your products, how will the 1% at the top maintain the wealth? Without the workers who support you, how can you make profits?

  • pay for the privilege of doing business in America | 0

It seems that one of the extraordinary things about doing business and presiding in the US is the ability to make money and benefit from all of the privileges of things American. So the trouble my family and I have with corporations who will not pay significant taxes is that they are, in essence, welfare cheats. Using our system without supporting it is dishonorable and immoral. Please, do the right thing and stop finding loopholes, as well as buying your way into American political decision-making to get more rules that benefit corporate profit. What is, in the end, the goal? Look at the destruction it is reaping in schools, in our country's future and stability. Business can still turn a profit -- perhaps a more stable profit -- by doing the right thing and being a responsible part of society. What's more, it'll "buy" your good name and customer loyalty. There's too much complexity to write here in a short note, but the main point is that you must take on a sense of personal connection and ethical responsibility to American society, to our country's functioning, and the first step to that is to stop getting out of paying your share of taxes, and stop influencing elections with massive contributions. We need to act like the people we want others to be, right?

Enough already, time to pony up, pay your fair share, come out of your gated community and see the pain the rest of us our feeling. This country can be great again but only if we realize we are all in this together.

  • Credit card predation | 0

On turning sixty five years young my mail box was flooded with credit cards, all I had to do was call the 800# to activate. Each time the ceiling was reached they company raised it higher until the day came when making minimum payment was to much.

Previous to senior status I was on social assistance and a mental health patient suffering OCD!! Yet at the time my Old Age Pension kicked I was attacked by predator banks.
