  • How much is enough? | 0

How much wealth must you, both personally and as the representative of your corporation, accumulate? While I do not believe that wealth is a zero sum game, I do believe that practices necessary to acquire both the money and power that has accrued to you and to Goldman Sachs directly and indirectly take food from others’ mouths, jobs from others’ futures, and hope from others’ spirits. As a corporation, you are under no legal obligation to take this into consideration. As a human being, you ARE morally obligated to consider this and guide your behavior according to its consequences.
Are you human or are you a collection of P&L statements, bank accounts, and tax returns? Your wealth insulates you from a global truth, which is that we are all connected. That insulation is imperfect, however, and you are only beginning to see it fray in the Occupy Wall Street movement. You can attempt to weave it tighter or you can acknowledge that it is an immoral and artificial mechanism that you use to excuse your greed.

    Dear Mr. Pandit,
First Rajaratnam, now you.  Really dude?  Trapping customers in a branch so they get arrested for taking their money out, and then the story of the man in Indonesia who was killed by Citi’s debt collectors?  Karma will get you and your bank.
    Happy Diwali.
