We're becoming the lost generation | 4
I am a senior in high school and I have come to the realization that my generation and I are lost. I do not know what I am going to do after high school. There are hundreds of options, but none seem viable in this unstable world. Go to college and get a degree? This will only leave me with debt for years, and a degree that is not a profitable asset. Take a gap year to gain life experience? How will I gain the experience if I cannot find a job or have to money to fund a culturing experience? A gap year will leave me as lost as before. Get a job? How? We are not generation X. My generation had a purpose, had drive. And now we are becoming lost ourselves. We do not know where to turn in this turmoil. Give us the future we deserve. Help give our country direction once again.

Bankers are doing a Good Job! I am on Your side! | 1
Contrary to the Zeros out messing up the streets, I think you bankers are doing a good job. I have no complaints and I think the $5 a month debit card fee is perfectly ok. If a consumer doesn't want a debit card, then they don't have to get one. Anyway, don't let the Zeros occupying the streets get to you, they are products of our poor education system.

We need your help | 2
Hello, We need your help Terri. I believe that everyone has the right to earn as much as they can, ON TWO conditions. One, is that it is legal. Which they are when people in govt. assist in making rules that make it easy to find loopholes. Two, it doesn't hurt other people. This rule has obviously been broken ! When many people have been kicked out of their homes, billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent to bail out companies like yours just to see billions of it being spent on the employees !!!!!!!!!!! I hope that you have a conscience and do what you can to help our country and economy get back on track the right way. Wouldn't it be great to tell your children and grandchildren that you were one of the people that helped to turn our country around !! Sincerely, Jeff Manning

Listen to the 99%, have a conscience !!! | 2
Hello, I encourage people making as much money as they can, on one condition. That condition is that it doesn't negatively impact others. Clearly having people in government setting up rules that only benefit people in industries such as yours, is a major problem. I hope that you are able to tell your children and grandchildren that you helped to become the solution and NOT the problem in the upcoming months. Thank you, Jeff Manning

Hey Sam! | 0
How was your commute this morning? Mine was, well, short...let's say I'm still in bed, waiting to hear the status of my short sale. This will be my 2d one in as many years. I've got a graduate degree, but can I find a job with a pension now that I've lost my life savings in real estate? Fack no! I'm 57. you think someone wants to hire me now? So how is YOUR home doing? Did you enjoy a good night's rest in it last night? I cannot even live in the one that is now up for grabs because there are no jobs there. I have to live in a house share,...in a very rundown home because it is cheap...so that i can make some kind of money as a contractor in another area. Meanwhile, how did you vote on the recent jobs bill? How's your family doing? Eating well I am sure, shopping well, playing well. Hope you have fun on that ridiculously expensive vacation you are planning for when it gets cold. Spend all that money you are making but remember, you are a vampire and you are taking people's blood.

Your moral obligation | 2
The large corporations you run have played a powerful role in bringing down our country. You have outsourced jobs to countries where working conditions are horrible and salaries are a joke, and have seen to it that unemployment is rife at home. You have sought consumers in countries whose economies are growing and have written off the consumers at home. You have felt that as long as your stockholders make money, no other consequences matter. You have a moral obligation to pay up for the long-term and somewhat irreversible damage you have created. You are the only ones with the money to do it. If you don't do it, you will create such a toxic social, physical, and economic environment that it will eventually destroy everyone, including all those stockholders who were the only people you cared about. Reconsider your priorities. Our country is running out of time, and all the gated communities in the world will not protect you from pollution, natural disaster, and social catastrophe. As it stands, our no.1 enemy is the large corporation. It is the most un-American institution we have. And our founding fathers wouldn't like it any more than I do. Small business would have been more to their liking. They did not trust the concentrations of wealth that the leaders of large corporations have made possible. Carmen Hendershott New York, NY 10011

Raping the economy is not the pervue of a bank. Of course, Chase isn't a bank. It is a financial vehicle designed to be a parasite siphoning capital from the workers (the 99%) to benefit an elitist corporate culture. Jamie - you managed a corporate takeover of WAMU with the financial injection of the FED. Great model! Unfortunately, we, the people, can"t receive gifts so easily and, more importantly, make $10,000/hr. If only life were fair!! Alas, you know that life isn't fair. Too big to fail is a great model - speculation is rewarded, risk is rewarded. Hopefully, Bank Transfer Day will send you a message!! Rhett Alden Seattle

Actions have consequences. What you decide to act upon becomes habit. You created the sending of this email by allowing your unchecked decisions to translate into habit, into expectation. May your ample personal rewards be a daily reminder of the conscience for which they were traded.

Your Chance to Help Preserve Our America Laws | 3
My wife and I are being falsely accused of criminal wrongdoing and we are not being given the rights of law in which we are entitled to by law, under the law. We created a sole proprietorship business creating custom wedding cakes. We had approximately 30 successful and happy deliveries/customers. Then, my wife who is very sick with Lupus, started to go into a flare. Her hair falls out and she takes chemotherapy. Since the business was just her, I and a few others we were going to be unable to deliver an upcoming wedding cake. We knew that we needed to contact the client and tell them that we were going to be unable to make the delivery and so we did. We contacted the customer to let them know that we were not going to be able to make the delivery. I offered to try to find an alternative baker but she was insistent that we make the cake as agreed. Unfortunately, we were not going to be able to do so. We told them we were very sorry and that we would give them their money back. The client began getting very frustrated and aggressive in voice tone and loudness. The customer also was cussing at me and calling me a scammer and many other obscenities while declaring how I ruined their wedding day. I listened as much as I could and I continued trying to apologize and explain but she just getting louder and louder until she became totally uncivil and I was unable to communicate in a positive manner. Eventually, she hung up on me. After that missed delivery, there were two more missed deliveries immediately after that. The reasons for the missed deliveries was because of my wife’s illness with Lupus and then because of trouble with our delivery vehicle. The clients and their families from those other missed deliveries began to call and complain as well even though we had taken all of the proper steps with them as well. We informed them that we were not going to be able to make the delivery as soon as we knew there was a problem and then we told them we would refund the money paid. What more could we do? My wife and I were very sad about a bride not getting their wedding cake because it is supposed to be a special moment but there was nothing we could do. Nothing like this had ever happened before. We were traveling in unchartered waters so we decided to try and find help and advice. I turned to a non-profit organization called SCORE.org (SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years). I called and spoke with two different local business counselors. I explained my situation to them and, after careful consideration, told me that I should file bankruptcy. Bear in mind, they told me the same thing even though neither one knew that I was talking to the other. They both told men that on two different occasions. This was the opinion of two retired respected business men who were now volunteering their time with this organization to help the small businesses of America. Therefore, my decision was to file bankruptcy. I wanted to file Chapter 13 but after taking all of the variables of my situation into consideration I learned that, under the law, I was unable to file Chapter 13. I had to file Chapter 7 … I had no choice under the law. I filed myself because I did not have the money to pay a bankruptcy attorney. I listed the cake clients on the petition, sent out all the proper notices and then filed. I attended the meetings and won my petition. I was declared bankrupt under Federal law. The Federal Bankruptcy Act (law) wiped my slate clean and erased all of my debts under law so that my wife and I could get a fresh start (and the proper medical attention for my wife). In total there were approximately 12 or 13 customers who did not get a cake delivered. Only three did not have much time to find a replacement (these 3 were pre-bankruptcy but I was not charged with their non-delivery). All of the others were post-bankruptcy and had plenty of time to find replacements because they were on the calendar as future deliveries. These were the only ones that law enforcement actually filed on. In other words, the local District Attorney, filed theft charges on my wife and I for not delivering 9 or so wedding cakes that were scheduled to be delivered in the future. In other words, their non-delivery had not even occurred when the indictment came out. How can we be charged for something that has not even occurred yet? Furthermore, how can we be charged with theft when, in fact, our obligation to repay the debt had been erased under Federal law? If convicted, this might be a landmark case for changing the Federal bankruptcy law and might open the doors for more criminal convictions when an American files for bankruptcy. Thousands of small business owners across America file for bankruptcy protection every year. Are they being charged with theft? We do not know what to do. No one will help us. The local government are mostly all corrupt and working together unfairly. Even the local paid public defense attorneys (for the indigent) are working on the side of the D.A. down here in Lockhart, Texas (Caldwell County). We are making a call out to all liberty and freedom loving Americans today!! We are making a call out for justice and for law. We make a call out to the people for help. Please help us. My wife and I survive from her Social Security Disability checks (because she is disabled) and the small amount of work that I can find. We do not have the money to hire a great team of criminal trial defense attorneys but that is what we need. We would appreciate any legal assistance (or cash donations to a defense team) if there is an attorney out there who would like to take this case on pro-bono. Please … if you care about liberty, justice and the America law … if you care about fairness … if you think that it’s a thousand times worse to put an innocent woman or man in prison than it is to let a hundred guilty men go free …. then maybe, just maybe, you can help. Thank you.
Stop overdraft fees! No bank bailouts! Bail me out! | 0
The amountof fees that fall on the 99% is enough to drive someone mad. $35 every time I make a transaction no matter how small and my account goes below $0. It's not like that $2 thing I bought at the grocery store should run me $37 because of a fucking $35 fee. Last year I made $12,000. I was charged over $500 that year alone in overdraft fees. I was a full time student paying my taxes to my government to bail you out and when it's my turn to need a bail out and my account hits zero you decide to fuck me a bit harder rather than bailing me out. Thanks big banks of America. I'm withdrawing my money from you on November 5th. All my friends and relatives are going to do the same. Who are you going to charge overdraft fees too now bitch? We are pisses and we are not going to put up with this type of treatment any more.

Half a Home | 2
I chose you to write to because you have a really cool name and I just knew you'd be a friendly, outgoing person who would love to hear my story of how today's economy affects my family. I am a 55-year-old housekeeper and my 63-year-old husband is retired and collecting a very small Social Security payment each month. As you can well imagine, the people who are most likely to hire me to clean their homes are slightly upper-middle-class dual-income couples. Lately I have lost clients who can no longer afford to hire me. My husband has a few health concerns that he has treated at the VA. With his COPD, if he didn't have that care we could not afford to pay for the medication he needs to breathe. Personal health insurance is not possible for him and the only health insurance I can afford is $5000 per year deductible. With our current incomes we could afford to build half a house, having been turned down for a loan. We took the plunge and built a house to the dried-in stage and will finish it ourselves somehow as funds become available and weather permits. Winter is coming. We have somewhere to live now but that could change. We are very lucky to have no debt and enough to eat, for that we are grateful every day, we're much better off than so many people. Just thought you'd like to know how well we are doing, all things considered. I knew you'd be pleased for us.

Bank fees | 0
Hello, The bank was a place to save money now it has become a place for the bank to stage a heist on the customer's money one fee at a time. For instance, the bank gets paid - through fees - each time I decided to withdrawal money from my regular savings account. The bank receives $5.00 each time I withdrawal money. They have become thieves of their customer's money.

Friend in hospital | 3
Dear Sarah, It's your penpal in Denver here. I hope you've had a nice week. Mine has been pretty good, but things haven't been too great for one of my and my fiancee's closest friends. She is a really cool gal, an archeologist by trade. Unfortunately, archeology jobs are really hard to find right now and she has had an extended period of unemployment even though she applied for a ton of jobs both in and outside her field. Anyhow, a few months ago she was complaining of a toothache. Turns out, she couldn't afford to go to the dentist and called us from the emergency room 8 days ago because the infection got so bad her throat was swelling up. We felt terrible because she hadn't mentioned anything and even though we don't make much, we would have helped her pay to see a doctor sooner because that's just what friends do. We didn't hear from her the following week. She wasn't returning phone calls, emails or text messages. Finally on Saturday, we got a reply to one of our texts to her, but it was her brother replying for her. He told us she was in intensive care and on a ventilator. The infection was very, very bad and almost killed her. An additional worry is that she was waiting to hear back on a job interview that had gone very well. Her brother can't access her voicemail to see if they called. I can't even imagine what her medical bills are going to amount to. Sarah, do you see how wrong it is that she almost died because she couldn't afford to see a dentist for a sore tooth? Can you imagine this happening to you or one of your friends? This is just one example of why all of these protests are happening and people are so upset. You have a lot of power, Sarah. Please put it to a good end. Best, Your penpal in Denver, CO

You took us all down with you. Then you climbed up our backs and grinned. | 4
You and your buddies in the finance industry did a terrible thing. You knowingly made money off the naivete of regular folks. Then you went to those same victims and said, "Help us out (Or we'll tank the entire economy.)" Well, you managed to tank the economy AND hold onto your bonuses. Things are going just great on Wall Street. But, meanwhile, the people you tricked all along the way are having their lives destroyed by those same forces that would have destroyed you and your friends. You just happened to be more connected, and more manipulative. It's time to step up, boys, and give those same people a hand. You can afford it. And we need to get things moving again. Time for you and the rest of the finance industry to give back. Lend some of that cash you're hoarding. Forgive some late mortgage payments. Restructure some loans. Be as conniving and manipulative in the service of helping the nation as were in leaching off it. Let's go, guys. You can do better.

I want to send a message to you that there are those out here that respect you and your role in American Business. Hold you head high, you are a hero and producer. Without your work to build the businesses of this country the rest of us would not have jobs. Read Atlas Shrugged. It describes what this group is about. They use a lot of euphemisms but at the end of the day it is about the enslavement of the rest of us and the confiscation of wealth to redistribute to their pockets. Alexis De Tocqueville stated that our democracy would fall when the people discovered they could vote themselves largess. Forty percent of the population pays no taxes - we are approaching the tipping point where the producers will no longer be willing to support the freeloaders. Hopefully, we have a John Galt to save us.

malfeasance at Chase Bank | 3
Dear Chase Bank board member, Please stop funding Mountain Top Removal Mining that is destroying Appalachia and coal fired power plants that are causing global warming. Also, funding the pill epidemic in Appalachia is pretty heinous. I would appreciate it if Chase stopped taking my tax dollars as bailout money and using to it purchase other banks instead of loaning money to people to create jobs. It is the largest financial institution in America, you do not been tax payer subsidies, you need to pay taxes and stop foreclosing on working people’s homes! Keep your corporate lobbying money out of my government; this is a democracy not plutocracy. And pay your bank tellers more; also, you have a lot of money! Worker deserve a living wage and not crazy high credit card rates. Yeah, the economy is rough, but it seems a lot rougher for us than for ya'll. Banks are not people, too, by the way, if you are confused. We are people, so treat us accordingly. It is nothing personal towards you, but the way this business has been running and the way it is effecting our economy needs to stop. Thanks, A concerned citizen

Some advice from someone who's been there before | 4
Hey Lloyd, What's going on over there? Sounds like you're having a pretty tough time. People seem pretty mad at you. I mean one time in the fifth grade I was supposed to take care of the class hamster over the weekend, and well... I bet you know what happened. Everyone was super mad at me. I didn't know what to do. The teacher told me that I had to replace the dead hamster which was a total bummer because that meant I needed some money. And you can imagine how tough it is to get a job when you're only 11! Stupid government regulations. So I had to improvise a bit. Play jazz, you know what I mean. I got a list of all the classrooms in the country who had pet hamsters and I wrote them a letter. I told them that there was this terrible hamster death disease and if a hamster dies in one classroom and doesn't get replaced, then all the hamsters in all the classrooms across the country would die too. Now you can imagine everyone got pretty scared. I know what you are going to say. "Don't give them time to think about it!" Don't worry Lloyd, I didn't. I told them that they only had one day or they were all going to be burying hamsters in the school playground. And guess what? It worked! I got that money ASAP. And what's even better, they got so scared that they actually gave me more money than I needed. So I gave myself a little bonus for coming up with the idea. You know what I'm talking about. After that everything was going great. I stayed in school and ended up a pretty good student. The only problem was that there were a lot of other pretty good students as well. And a lot of those students remembered when they were in the 5th grade and received a letter saying that their hamster would die if they didn't send some money to replace this other hamster way over on the other side of the country. Turns out a lot of them read some science books and figured out that there was no such thing as that hamster death disease in the letter. Once again, everyone was pretty angry at me. I tried to come up with another story about how great it was to have hamsters in classes and that I was just handling the transactions between those schools and my school. That it was those stupid government regulations that didn't allow me to get a job. But they just weren't buying. I don't want to get into the details of what happened next, but it was a total bummer. So I just want you to know that I feel your pain. Trust me. I've been there and it just gets worse and worse. People seem to take that kind of stuff pretty seriously. Who knew!? I'll let you get back to work. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone over there. I'm pulling for you!

Corporate Responsibility | 8
Dear Madams and Sirs, I am a self supporting retiree with health insurance. I love my country. I live in an area of Florida, Port St. Lucie. Several years ago, although small, it was one of the fastest growing communities in the country. Multiple job listings and a booming housing industry. Now there are multiple foreclosures, closed businesses and unemployment. Job listings take a very small portion of the classifieds. You are largely responsible for this change. There is nothing at all wrong with making a very comfortable living, with seeking to increase profit, rewarding increased responsibilities with increased compensation, and participating in a global economy in a competitive way. But we have other values...social conscience, economic justice, honesty-therefore trust-in our financial institutions' operations, the common good. You have had so much power and you've abused it and betrayed your country and fellow citizen. You have turned the investment process into a fraudulent mechanism to serve only yourselves. Your creations had nothing to do with any concrete reality....only your greed. I sympathize with OWS. I have friends who sympathize with the Tea Party. We are looking for areas of agreement. The most immediate and undisputed is your corrupting control of our political process and politicians. You have the money. We have the vote. We are willing to work with you to create a future America that works for the common good and is an inspiration for the emerging global partnership. Here is your invitation. We will be watching. Dear Mr. Pandit, As a fellow Indian, I can imagine that you were probably raised to think only about generating money to buy possessions so as to better your "status" in society. Or, quite frankly, like many of the other men of Indian descent out there, you're just trying to overcompensate for having less than 4 inches of endowment. In either case, given the state of financial crisis that we're in, maybe it's time to stop being so self-absorbed. Maybe, just, maybe you need to take a moment to reflect on the fact that you're unethical actions have an impact on society as a whole. It's time to take into account the greater good of the people because ain't no power like the power of the people, cause the power of the people don't stop. A doctor for the 99%, Rachna Patel

Homeless, 4 children, single mom seeking a place to live | 15
Hi, I am an energetic, professional, semi-organized, mom with 4 kids. Due to an illegal foreclosure, we are desperately seeking shelter as winter is quickly approaching. We had adopted several homeless animals that will need to relocate with us. I have been able to re-home the chickens, however the cats, dog and fish are still with us at this time and are keeping us warm at night (Not the fish) until such time that we can have a 'normal' roof over our heads again. The illegal foreclosure has wrecked havoc on the kids, but I have them in therapy now and expect that they should eventually grow up to be contributing members of society since they were previously honor students prior to the illegal foreclosure. We don't need much, 4 walls, a roof, in/near their old neighborhood would be great. Have cash, have always been willing to pay, and did pay until the servicer told me not to. Anxiously waiting for a reply!!!

Just wondering... | 7
Dear Brian, You don't mind me calling you Brian, do you? After all, you are an overlord in our "democracy", so our relationship should be friendly, right? Just wondering, how many houses/condos do you have? What do you do with all that money? See, most of the people I know (including me) just scrape by. We don't eat out, we don't buy things we don't absolutely need (and most of the time we don't buy things we DO absolutely need). We can't afford health insurance. Some of us have lost our homes and live on the street. Many of us have lost our jobs, and feel our lives, and the lives of our children, falling to bits. It's hard to have hope. I guess you don't understand that though. I mean, when you fuck up, you get taxpayer money to fix it, and then get your pay and a whopping bonus, too. Just wondering, how do you sleep? I mean, do you sleep deeply and warmly in your big fancy bed, or do you have haunting, guilty nightmares? I have nightmares -- they are all about trying to get somewhere through an impossible obstacle course, having to fight my way. Sincerely, Ciara Kehoe

Thomas Jefferson | 2
Hi John, AA here. Since it's Monday, I thought you might need some inspiration before you go out there with all guns ablazin' and make lots of lovely dosh for your employer, Goldman Sachs. So here's some fine words spoken by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies." "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." Hmm, makes you think, doesn't it? Keep the coffee-pot warmed!
